In the aftermath of Breakit Impact Challenge, LegalWorks continues its journey with supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and really implementing these in the business.

Our LW Advisory CEO, Caroline Snellman, spoke at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm last week during a manifestation organized by Ownershift, an organization that Caroline has been active in since its formation in March 2018. Ownershift is a politically independent think tank with the purpose of shifting societal power structures through ownership. The long term goal is to diversify ownership overall, starting off with increasing the percentage of female ownership in Sweden.

Even with resounding evidence that diversity matters for the bottom line, the story of inequality continues in organizations. To fix the corporate world will require different and more diverse ownership. It will create a world where people don’t hate their jobs, forsake family, get burned out. One of inclusion, sustainable development, human growth; lead by people less deluded about their mission on earth. This is a defining moment. We created the current corporate system, ergo we can change it.” Caroline says.

On the topic of making an impact, we note that input from LegalWorks [regarding privacy data] is included in the substantive contributions and strategic approach by ICC towards member states in the ongoing WTO e-commerce negotiations.

Emma Lilja Sjödin from LegalWorks says: “LegalWorks’ input consisted of a remark that free flow of data is not only affected by forced localization but also needs to be managed in a responsible and conscious way. LegalWorks noted while it is important to enhance free flow of data, it is essential to not create rules that exempt from compliance with data protection rules given the extensive use of (personal) data in today’s society. LegalWorks instead promoted facilitation of the correct handling of data, which would enhance MSME’s awareness and making it a natural part of compliance also going forward.”

Innovation and growth really does not happen with the expensive suits and the big companies. It happens right here, right now, with LegalWorks being part of the movement.
